For who?

For all non-specialist doctors from all Nordic countries. This is an established concept at the annual Swedish ENT meetings that is very appreciated among doctors in training.

10 different short courses to choose from - mainly hands-on courses. You can fill your own program with a maximum of 4 courses during this day. Lectures will be in English. Find the program here

How?

Note that there is a limited amount of seats for each course. We apply ”first come - first served”.

When register to the congress you choose the courses you are interested in. The cost for each course is 150 SEK excl. VAT (lunch and coffee is included in the fee). You choose one course in each session, download the program here: Program

MINI COURSES TOPICS

1. Danger signals in oral mucosal lesions

Lecturer: Gita Gale

This mini course will give an insight into the most common oral mucosal lesions, how to treat them and the detection of potentially malignant disorders.


2. To Close a Wound; Why, How, When and Where?

Lecturer: Anders Arbrandt and Bengt Nilsson

Max no. of participants: 20

In this hands-on course we present different suture materials and suturing techniques as well as flap techniques applicable to the head and neck area. You will be able to directly apply these techniques in practice using biological as well as synthetic materials.


3. Orbital fractures

Lecturer: Åsa Robinson and Gunnhildur Gudnadottir

Max no. of participants: 20

An introduction to the diagnostic and treatment challenges of orbital fractures. Lecture, practical training and case discussions.


4. Evaluation of oropharyngeal dysphagia with FEES/FUS

Lecturer: Hans Dotevall

Max no. of participants: 20

This mini course will provide practical knowledge about the assessment of oropharyngeal swallowing function with FEES/FUS (fiberendoscopic evaluation of swallowing). The investigation will be described step by step and practical hints will be given. Typical findings and treatment of oropharyngeal dysphagia of different etiologies will be discussed.


5. The temporal bone - anatomy and 3D drilling

Lecturer: Malin Berglund and Åsa Nihlén

Max no. of participants: 12

Lecture in clinical anatomy of the temporal bone and the most common diseases. The participants will be instructed in drilling technique in a 3D-simulator with realistic clinical cases.


6. Management of epistaxis - from cotton wad to embolization

Lecturer: Ulrika Svensson and Ceclilia Ahlström Emanuelsson

Is there an optimal way to treat epistaxis? This mini course aims to give you different perspectives on the treatment of basic as well as complicated cases of epistaxis.


7. Neuro-otology for dummies

Lecturer: Mikael Karlberg

Max no. of participants: 20

Do you feel anxious when the next patient on your list is referred because of dizziness? Stop worrying and learn all there is to know about how to examine a patient with vertigo and dizziness: HINTS for acute vestibular syndrome, vertical and lateral canal BPPV, central eye motor syndromes and much more!


8. Modern hearing aid technology 

Lecturer: Radi Jönsson

Max no. of participants: 40

Who can benefit from hearing aids? The Mini-course will concentrate on practical knowledge on indications and function in different hearing technologies. From conventional hearing aids for mild hearing loss to brainstem implants for acoustic nerve disease and total deafness. 


9. Ultrasound in the Head and Neck area - a basic hands-on course

Lecturers: Rusana Bark, Malin Wendt and Caroline Gahm

Max no. of participants: 12

Welcome into the world of shadows! This course gives an introduction to ultrasound and how it can be used as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool in everyday Head and Neck clinical practice. We focus on hands-on practice in imaging and puncture technique.


10. Tonsil surgery – pros and cons of different techniques

Lecturer: Erik Odhagen

While tonsil surgery is a common procedure for the ENT surgeon, postoperative complications are frequent and may be severe. Today there is a wide range of surgical techniques. Which one should you chose in order to optimize your results? This mini course focuses on the pros and cons of different techniques and how to minimize the risk of complications.
