Examination date - September 11 2023

This year will the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR) examination be held in Sweden, during the Swedish National Radiology Conference in Uppsala. All Swedish radiologists in their last year of training (ST-läkare) or specialists in radiology are eligible to apply.

The examination is an excellent opportunity to motivate a deeper study of radiology and to sum up all knowledge from residency. The examination is also useful and important during the further career, in Sweden and in Europe and elsewhere.

Application is made via the link below. Payment (EUR 400 ex VAT) and necessary documentation have to be received before the application is considered. For Swedish applicants, the fee is reimbursed after participation in the examination by the Swedish Society of Radiology (membership mandatory).

The examination is open to radiologists and radiology residents in their fifth year of training.

These are the EDiR eligibility criteria:

Candidates must at least be in their fifth year of national radiology training at the time of the examination.

Active membership of the relevant national radiological society in the year of the examination is required.

Candidates must be ESR full members, corresponding members or members in training in the year of the examination.

The exam lasts approximately 6 hours including the candidates registration.

Regarding the food, candidates are responsible for their own snacks and may eat them during breaks, as eating in the examination room is not allowed.

Please note that candidates should be reminded to go to the toilet before the exam starts. Otherwise, they will have to wait for the breaks in order to do so. The only exception to this rule are candidates with special needs and a medical proof, who have communicated this beforehand to the EDiR team. The EDiR team will pass this information on to the supervisor.

We will take this into account and assist you as much as possible.

THE DAY OF THE EXAM

Special health and safety measures
Please follow the health and safety measures established by the local organisers; otherwise, you may be asked to leave the examination room and automatically fail the exam.  

Candidate identification
Kindly note that you must bring your passport or identity card to register for the exam.
If you do not present a valid and acceptable identity document, you will not be allowed to take the exam and the examination fee will not be refunded.

Late arrivals
Please be aware that candidates arriving late to one of the parts of the exam will not be allowed to sit this part.
Consequently, candidates will automatically fail this part of the exam and, therefore, the whole exam

Location of the EDiR test
The EDiR test in Uppsala 11 September 2023 will take place at a computer hall at the Department of Radiology at the Uppsala University Hospital ”Akademiska”. The best place to enter the hospital is at entrance 70. When you arrive there you are at level 0 and you must go to level 1. There will be signs and guides waiting at entrance 70 for you to help you find your way.
