Pre congress course - Hypermobility in Children and Adolescents
Welcome! We are looking forward to meeting you and spending an engaging and interactive time together exploring hypermobility in children.
As we will be practicing clinical assessment techniques on each other, please wear or bring clothing that allows easy access to the joints being assessed. We recommend shorts and a sleeveless top, or alternatively leggings and a fitted long-sleeved T-shirt, so that joint range of motion can be measured accurately.
If you have access to a goniometer, please bring it with you, as we will not have goniometers available to lend.
During the workshop, we may make small markings on the skin using a removable skin marker to help compare measurements between participants.
As the workshop will take place in a lecture hall rather than a clinical skills room, we would greatly appreciate it if those who are able could bring a yoga mat or a blanket. This will make it more comfortable when performing stability assessments of joints such as the knee and ankle.
We also encourage you to think about a clinical case involving a child with hypermobility that either went particularly well or that you found challenging, and reflect on why. We will be discussing patient cases in small groups. Although we may not have time to cover every case, having examples prepared will help create rich and engaging discussions.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the workshop!
