Welcome to Via Nordica!
Time passes quickly. Soon it’s 2020, the year for the next Via Nordica-conference.
Welcome to Malmö, June 10-12, 2020!
“I’m looking forward to open Via Nordica. We have chosen a very exciting theme, ’Future mobility – sustainable ways’,” says Lena Erixon, General Director for the Swedish Transport Administration, 2016-2020.
“The theme is a highly topical issue. Every day we read and talk about how our transports and travels will work in the face of climate change. We want the program to reflect this in an exciting manner,” Lena Erixon continues.
The program is beginning to take shape. The project group have started to book speakers. It will be representatives from Swedish, Nordic, and European politics. It will also be as speakers from some of the larger companies in the automotive industry and the energy business.
"When will the majority of travel and transport be performed with self-driving and electric vehicles? Is this the solution to our problems? And how will the infrastructure, our society, and our way of living change due to this development? We might get interesting answers to these questions during our three-day conference,” says Annelie Nylander, Swedish department secretary, the current secretary for NVF and the leader of the project group.
Thursday June 11, the middle day of the conference, is called “Day of the Committees”, since it is arranged by the ten advisory committees of the NVF.
“At present, we are planning our part of the program. One of our sessions is called “Innovative solutions for sustainable cities”, and it will focus on how innovative solutions can increase the use of public transport, pedestrian and cycle traffic. This is an exciting current development,” says John Hultén, chairman of the committee for transports in cities and transport planning.
Via Nordica has a web site at www.vianordica2020.se. Please read more about the conference at www.nvfnorden.org. The program will be completed during the fall, and the registration will open in the beginning of December 2019.
