Instructions for chairs
As Chair, you are responsible for the time being held by the speakers. Specify the time for each speaker. If you think the speaker may exceed the allocated time, please indicate by raising one finger or similar that it is 1 minute left. When the time has passed, please stand up to make sure the speaker is aware of your action.
• Make sure to be in the room 10 min before the session starts to ensure that all presentations are uploaded and that the speakers can introduce themselves to you.
• Start the session on time.
• The speakers are informed about their time slots, see above.
• There are two Chairs for each session. Please plan in advance how and by whom the speakers are introduced.
• Questions from the audience will be asked orally. You decide who gets to ask a question and a microphone will be handed to that person by an assistant in the room. If no one in the audience would like to pose a question, please have a back-up question prepared to pose to the speaker so that every speaker gets at least one question.
• If a speaker does not appear, make a pause for the duration of the talk and then continue with the next talk at the time it is planned. Please do not continue with a talk earlier than planned for in the program.
• The session should always end on the scheduled time.
As Chair you will have an Ipad available where you can easily read the program, including speaker name and talk title, in the Web App. (Please note that you may need to open the abstract to see the affiliation of the speaker.) A technician will be in the lecture hall or in the speaker service room and can assist you when needed.
